Nurse Manager

Location: Ormshirk, Lancashire
Salary / Pay: Negotiable dependent on experience

Our Clients home is based on the outskirts of Ormskirk. It is a beautiful 17th Century Manor House, set in acres of landscaped gardens and woodland, giving the feeling of tranquility and peacefulness. Only 5 minutes from Ormskirk town centre and 15 minutes from Southport.

Since the change of ownership, late 2016, the home is in the process of being fully refurbished, providing a refreshing and revitalised environment for our residents and employees. Our dedicated team of care professionals have been focusing on bringing the level of care up to the high standards expected of the Group.

The Role

Our Client is searching for a Nurse Manager to join their team. You will be responsible to the Registered Manager for the day-to-day running of the home, working closely with the Clinical Lead and Care Manager to provide management & leadership to our team.

As Nurse Manager you will be:

  • Ensuring high-quality, person-centred care is provided to all residents
  • Accountable for the homes clinical governance, operations and activities, ensuring that we comply with NMC and other regulatory bodies
  • Making sure all legal, regulatory and contractual standards are met and exceeded
  • Ensuring that all policies, procedures and systems are in place
  • Ensuring all staff have the skills and competencies required to provide a developmental focus for the home
  • Providing effective supervision and support to all clinical staff
  • Taking responsibility and the necessary actions on behalf of the Registered Manager for the recruitment, appointment and deployment of all staff, liaising with HR and the Recruitment department
  • Ensuring that the home is appropriately represented and working effectively with local service providers
  • Developing an ethos that reflects our understanding of each individuals rights, opinions and beliefs, in a safe and dementia friendly environment
  • Acting as an ambassador for the home, ensuring strong communication channels are established
  • Managing staff in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Managing the occupancy levels of the home which will involve networking, advertising and building relationships with other professionals
  • Providing staff cover in accordance with the requirements of the Registered Manager
  • Liaising with multi disciplinary teams, residents and families
  • Responsible for ensuring that effective referral protocols and practices are in place and adhered to
  • Maintaining a safe environment for residents, responding to all health & safety requirements
  • Undertaking all appropriate aspects of Nursing Care including advanced clinical skills as required

Your Skills

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience and competencies in a variety of clinical practises ie: Enteral Tube, Syringe Driver, Catheterisation and Wound Management
  • Be highly organised

  • Be a team player
  • Have strong communication skills
  • Have good leadership skills

Qualifications

  • For this role you must have a relevant RMN or RGN Qualification with an active PIN number

Experience

For this role it is essential that you have:

  • A minimum of 3 years managing a Nursing Home
  • Relevant experience supervising staff and coordinating support provisions
  • Experience working with residents aged 65 and above
  • Specialist knowledge of the latest Care Standards and NMC guidelines

For this role it is desirable that you have:

  • Experience working with residents living with dementia
  • Appropriate qualifications in Social Care
